    What is a Spin Bike?

Before we dive into an in-depth review of Fitway spin bikes, it is important to understand exactly what a spin bike is.

A Spin bike is a common exercise bike, (which can often be mistaken for upright bikes), that offers a high-intensity cardio workout, mimicking the activity of an outdoor racing bike.

Spin bikes are designed for the user to sit in a position that requires them to lean forward while you cycle. This is emphasized by the handlebars being placed at a similar level as the seat. You can also stand up while pedaling on a spin bike as well.

Further, spin bikes use a resistance system which can be adjusted by a knob. This is designed to simulate the resistance of riding outdoors such as biking uphill or against heavy winds.

Some additional features of a spin bike may include:

    • Display consoles
    • Reinforced pedals
    • Adjustable seating
    • Multi-position handlebars
    • Different resistance levels
    • Heart rate sensor
    • Heavy-duty flywheel
    • Water bottle holders
    • Solid frames

If a spin bike is what you are interested in, you have come to the right place. Let’s take a look at spin bikes offered by Fitway Equip.

For the purposes of this article, we will be focusing on Fitway’s selection of spin bikes.

    Spin Bikes at Fitway Equip

Fitway Equip currently sells three different spin bikes according to their online shop.

    These three spin bikes are:

    • 500IC Indoor Cycle
    • 1000IC Indoor Cycle
    • 1500IC Indoor Cycle

We at Akfit currently sell the 500IC Indoor Cycle, and the 1000IC Indoor Cycle.

We will review each of these bikes based on their unique features, functionalities, size & weight, cost, and warranty.

    Fitway Equip 500IC Indoor Cycle

The 500IC Indoor Cycle is Fitway Equip’s entry-level spin bike that is built to bring an authentic cycling experience to your home..

    Unique Features

The 500IC Indoor Cycle includes a fully adjustable padded seat and handlebars so that users of different height levels can enjoy this specific bike. The handlebars also feature heart rate monitors.

This spin bike also features a small battery-powered LCD console that will track your heart rate, as well as your workout data. While this console may not be considered a high-end console, the 500IC does feature a personal device holder so that you can ride to whichever you feel most comfortable with.

When it comes to portability, the 500IC Indoor Cycle includes two small transport wheels on the front of the bike, simply tilt the bike vertically and you can roll it away. This feature is ideal for those who don’t have a lot of space in their workout environment.

    Functionality

This bike features a manually adjustable magnetic resistance system by the use of an adjustment dial. Magnetic resistance uses magnets to produce tension against the flywheel. However, since the magnets don’t come into contact with the flywheel, the user can enjoy a smooth and quiet workout on their 500IC Indoor Cycle.

The flywheel on the 500IC Indoor cycle however is fairly light weighing in at only 13 lbs. This means that while the flywheel requires less effort to get started, it will have a harder time generating momentum. This will promote a lower-impact workout that is easier on your joints and will provide a good workout for your hamstring and glutes as you are required to pedal more frequently with a light flywheel.

    Size & Weight

The 500IC Indoor Cycle is also fairly light overall only weighing 61.7 lbs making it easy for transport. The bike measures out to a length of 46.5 inches, and a width of 42 inches. It can also handle a max user weight of 220 lbs which is fairly low.

    Cost

At Akfit, we currently sell the 500IC Indoor Cycle for $598

    Warranty

The manufacturer’s warranty on the 500IC Indoor Cycle provides a 5-year protection on the frame, a 1-year protection on parts, a 90-day coverage on labor, and a 1-year protection on electronics.

The 500IC Indoor Cycle is Ideal for:

Ultimately, the 500IC Indoor Cycle is an entry-level bike for those who don’t want to break the bank, require a fairly low-impact workout for their joints, and aren’t looking to expose their spin bike to heavy use.

    Fitway Equip 1000IC Indoor Cycle

The 1000IC Indoor Cycle is an older model spin bike compared to the 500IC. However, this machine is built for slightly more use than the 500IC and has a few more features.

    Unique Features

This bike has a fully adjustable padded seat and fully adjustable handlebars so it can withstand users at different heights, but the 1000IC is also built a little bit sturdier so users who want to exercise on their spin bike more than a couple times a week will be able to do so without fear of wearing down their equipment (with proper maintenance).

Another noticeable difference between the 1000IC and it’s more cost-friendly version is that it is compatible with a wireless chest strap for heart rate monitoring while still providing the heart rate contact monitors on the handlebars.

The console on the 1000IC is the exact same as the 500IC, it’s a small wireless LCD display that tracks minimal details regarding your workout such as speed, distance, heart rate, time, and calories.

Similar to the 500IC, the 1000IC Indoor Cycle also features small transport wheels on the front.

    Functionality

Just like the 500IC, this specific spin bike features a manually adjustable magnetic resistance system that can be adjusted by a dial, thus your experience riding the 1000IC Indoor Cycle will also be a quiet one.

The most notable difference between the 1000IC and the 500IC is the weight of the flywheel. This bike features a flywheel that weighs 35lbs which means that significantly more momentum can be generated riding this bike. The flipside however is that with a heavier flywheel, more effort is required to get started with your cycling workout.

    Size & Weight

The 1000IC weighs 104.6 lbs which is considerably more than the 500IC and thus making it more difficult to move around your workout environment. However, the 1000IC can also handle a higher max user weight of 300 lbs.

    Cost

At Akfit, we currently sell the 1000IC Indoor Cycle for $1,098.

    Warranty

The manufacturer’s warranty on the 1000IC provides a 5-year protection on the frame, a 2-year protection on parts, a 1-year coverage on labor, and a 2-year protection on electronics.

The 1000IC Indoor Cycle is Ideal for:

Ultimately the 1000IC is an entry to mid-level spin bike that can withstand a little extra casual use when compared to the 500IC. This is ideal for those who want to use their spin bike around three times a week with proper maintenance and don’t have significant room in their home gym environment.

    1500IC Indoor Cycle

The 1500IC Indoor Cycle is Fitway’s premier spin bike but also is their most expensive.

    Unique Features

The most notable difference between the 1500IC and the other spin bikes Fitway sells is the adjustable seat and handlebars. On the 500IC and the 1000IC, the seat and handlebars could only be adjusted vertically. However the 1500IC provides the user with the ability to adjust the seat and handlebars horizontally as well.

In comparison to the 1000IC, the rest of the features are pretty much the same, the 1500IC features the same console, a personal device holder, and transport wheels.

    Functionality

This biggest upgrade on the 1500IC Indoor Cycle in comparison to Fitway’s other spin bikes is it’s three point magnetic resistance system. This system is designed to provide the user with different levels of resistance that are more precise and is adjusted by the use of a knob.

The flywheel weighs the exact same as the 1000IC’s flywheel at 35 lbs.

    Size & Weight

The final difference you will notice with the 1500IC Indoor Cycle is the overall weight of the bike. This spin bike weighs 130 lbs, which is double the weight of the 500IC. The max user weight for the 1500IC is 300 lbs

    Cost

According to Fitway’s website, the 1500IC Indoor Cycle costs $1,599.

    Warranty

The manufacturer’s warranty covers more details than the other two fitway spin bikes. This warranty includes a 5-year protection on the frame, a 3-year protection on parts (for home), a 2-year protection on parts (for commercial), a 1-year protection on labor (for home and commercial), and a 2-year protection on coverage.

The 1500 IC Indoor Cycle is Ideal for:

Ultimately, the 1500 IC cycle is ideal for those who are looking for longevity out of their spin bike, a more precise workout when it comes to resistance, and for those with multiple users in their home.
