In fact, treadmills are widely considered a ‘must-have’ piece of gym equipment for fitness enthusiasts and athletes. Treadmills serve a wide range of purposes helping people meet their fitness goals. By adjusting the speed and incline levels, people of all ages and with different fitness goals can benefit. Not to mention, treadmills are useful when weather conditions make your workout not practical to bring outdoors. Instead, walking or running can be easily done indoors on a treadmill. The Peloton Treadmill, known as the Peloton Tread, is one of the many treadmill options on the market, and currently exists as Peloton’s only treadmill product. At Akfit, we are a Canadian specialty fitness store and we enjoy helping serve our clients needs and help them reach their goals. We often get asked about treadmills, including the Peloton Tread. In this review, we take an in-depth look at the features and functionalities of the Peloton Tread to help you narrow down if this treadmill is the right one for you. In this article.....1) Features & Functionalities2) Size, and Weight3) Cost4) Delivery5) Warranty6) Return Policy7) What Reviews Say About the Peloton Tread8) Is the Peloton Tread Right For You?9) Purchasing a Treadmill at Akfit Features & FunctionalitiesWhile Peloton is famously known for their selections of spin bikes and virtual spin classes, Peloton has also dipped their toes into the treadmill market. With this, Peloton has released the Peloton Tread and Peloton Tread+. *However, it is important to note that at the time of publication, the Peloton Tread+ is unavailable due to a company recall. With this, you are likely wondering if the Peloton Tread is still a safe option. Rest assured knowing that Peloton did fix the main issue with the Peloton Tread+ model, which was a potentially loose console, and now runners can safely use their treadmill without the fear of risk or injury in that regard. The Peloton Tread is a high-tech treadmill and is known for its flagship feature which is their 24'' 1080p HD touchscreen. This touchscreen provides the user with the option to stream thousands of live and on-demand workout classes through the Pelton app with their all-access membership. These classes range from beginner-friendly to advanced and feature different workout programs such as running routes, strength training, boot camp workshops, yoga classes, and stretching routines. When purchasing a Peloton Tread, the customer has the opportunity to choose between four packed with a variety of features and equipment. These packages include…..Basic Peloton Tread 12-month limited warranty Delivery and assemblyEssentials (Including Basic) One set of resistance bands Two sets of weights A reversible workout mat Heart rate monitorWorks (Including Basic + Essentials) Yoga strap Yoga blocks Peloton x Camelbak® water bottleFamily (Includes all other packages) A second set of weights A second heart rate monitor A second Peloton x Camelbak® water bottle As previously mentioned, a stand out feature of the Peloton Tread is the console and all-access membership. This all-access membership costs an additional $39 a month and requires a 1-year commitment upon signing up. The Peloton app would be most comparable to the iFit app but provides more live and on-demand workout options that include current and all-time leaderboards, outdoor scenic routes, and multiple class options. After the first year you can cancel your all-access membership, however doing so will diminish the value of your HD console as you can’t download other apps on your console such as Netflix or YouTube for example. The Peloton Tread’s unit also features 4GB of RAM and 16GB of internal flash storage. Further, this model features a front facing camera so you can video chat with your friends or have a more personal engagement during your live workout classes. The unit also features four digital microphones, two front-facing stereo speakers that deliver a loud, quality, and clear sound, and it features a USB-C charging port for your personal devices. Unfortunately however, there is no fan included with the Peloton Tread. When it comes to speed and incline capabilities, you have the option to trigger 3 different speeds and incline options on the touchscreen. There are not pre-set buttons for every speed and incline, however the Peloton Tread features knobs on the sides that control your exact speed and incline levels. The Peloton Tread will adjust to a max speed of 12.5mph (20kph) and a max incline of 12.5% but does not decline below 0%. Finally, the Peloton Tread also features a storage tray and runs along the width of the treadmill. This tray can be used to hold a small water bottle or a personal device such as your smartphone Size and WeightWhen it comes to size, the Peloton Tread measures at a length of 68'', a width of 33'', and a height of 62''. In comparison to other treadmills on the market, the Peloton Tread has a smaller footprint which makes up for the lack of a folding feature. The belt itself only measures out at a length of 59'', and width of 20'' and features a step up height of 8''. The belt also features a center red line which is a unique feature to a belt design that helps keep the user on balance and centered on the treadmill. This makes up for the shorter overall length of this model. The Peloton Tread also includes wheels so you can easily store it away in another common space or your home gym. In terms of weight, this treadmill has an overall weight of 290 lbs with a weight capacity of 300 lbs. CostThe cost of the Peloton Tread all depends on which package you decide to go with.As previously mentioned, Peloton offers four different packages that include different parts and accessories that can be used with your treadmill. This doesn’t include the all-access membership price of $39 per month if you want to get the most out of your Peloton Tread and its accessories. These 4 different packages are priced on Peloton’s website at….. Basic: $3,295 Essentials: $3,595 Works: $3,745 Family: $3,570 DeliveryWhen you purchase your Peloton Tread, Peloton will deliver the treadmill to you and have one of their trained professionals assemble your brand new treadmill. They’ll even help run you through the basic functionality of the machine. To prevent buffering, Peloton does recommend that your new treadmill is placed somewhere in your home that is near a wi-fi router or somewhere that can access internet speeds with a download of at least 10mbps and an upload speed of 2.5mbps. WarrantyWith cost in mind, it is no question that a Peloton Tread is a significant investment in your fitness. You can rest assured knowing that the Peloton tread is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. The warranty covers a 5 year protection on the frame while offering a 1 year warranty on parts and labor. Return PolicyPeloton offers a 30-day return policy for products not covered under the free 30-day home trial. However, Peloton’s policy does not cover improper wear and tear caused by the user. Refunds are not offered on delivery fees or charges related to your Peloton product and equipment returned after the 30-day return policy will be taxed with an additional $250 delivery fee minimum. What Reviews Say About the Peloton TreadThe Peloton Tread has received average to five-star reviews. Treadmill Review Guru considered the Peloton Tread as an average treadmill that is basically highlighted by the peloton app. They advise that unless this particular treadmill appeals to you, that maybe you should consider shopping around a little more given the heavy price point the Peloton Tread presents.Healthline stated a similar standpoint on the treadmill, but mentions that although the price point may be a bit high for some, it may be worth the price for you if you really value the ability to stream thousands of on-demand and live classes that will keep you motivated and challenged all from your treadmill.A review from Men’s Health gave a more glowing reflection of the Peloton Tread. The writer outlined that the Peloton Tread is a beautiful piece of hardware that made him fall in love with fitness again. The article even claims that Peloton’s fitness instructors are the company’s “secret weapons, filled with personality, expertise, and their own unique style of coaching.”Overall, most reviews claim that if you think you will get a lot from the Peloton app and their all-access membership then it may be worth the investment. Is the Peloton Treadmill Right for You?As mentioned before, when purchasing any fitness equipment, one major factor is the cost. There is no hiding that the Peloton Tread is a more expensive treadmill, so if you’re looking for a cost-friendly option, and don’t require the live and on-demand programs that Peloton offers with their all-access membership, then this treadmill may not be your best option. However, if you are someone who is looking to use their treadmill consistently, and wants a wide variety of features, packages, workout programs, and classes, then this model is well worth the investment.
