When you buy a heavy-duty cardio machine, strength machine, or even a squat rack, you will want it to last, rather than paying for repairs or replacements. However, just about everything in life is subject to general wear and tear, such as your appliances, your car, and any other everyday products you may use. Fitness equipment is no exception.While you should be performing preventative maintenance on your fitness equipment regularly to avoid potential breakdowns, it’s important to know what to do if your gym equipment needs repair. It can be especially difficult if you are unfamiliar on how to properly identify or fix the problem. Thankfully, Akfit has a dedicated and insured on-site service department to help you out. Our service department is open Monday to Saturday every week from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. The service team not only offers repair and replacement services, but also provides preventative maintenance plans to help increase the longevity of your gym equipment. Further, Akfit is recognized as the authorized service repair center for fitness equipment in northern Ontario under all of the manufacturer’s whose products we sell. When you contact your fitness product manufacturer and live within northern Ontario, they will direct you to us. Our trained and insured service team will visit you at your home or commercial facility to provide the necessary service that is required for your equipment, whether it's a part replacement, repair, or just maintenance. When it comes to maintenance, our customized preventative maintenance plan checklist will outline specific details for taking care of your equipment such as:CleaningInspectingAdjustingLubricatingDiagnosingTestingOur factory trained professionals will perform comprehensive maintenance on your equipment. When maintenance is completed, a copy of the maintenance checklist will be provided to you for your records. Any recommendations and potential problems will be noted on the form for your consideration. How to Submit a Service RequestTo request a service request you must submit a service request form. DO NOT bring your broken equipment to our store. A service request form is mandatory in order for our trained service team to work with you. Our service request form will ask you the follow the details:Your nameContact detailsYour addressType of facilityType of equipmentBrand of equipmentSerial number Product numberExact date of purchaseWas your equipment purchased at AkfitDescription of the problemUpload a photo of your equipment (not required)This questions on this form are designed so that our trained professionals can properly provide you with the necessary information regarding your service request. While we can fix almost anything, every product is built differently and requires different care. It is also important to note that a service request is required for each individual piece of fitness equipment. For example, if you have five treadmills that require repair, five service request forms will need to be submitted. Each machine requires its own work order so each specific service order can be tracked specifically and properly.Upon completion of submitting your service request form(s), Akfit will place your request in our our queue among all other requests. Clients that purchased their equipment through Akfit will be prioritized within our queue. What to Expect After Submitting an Akfit Service RequestDue to the high volume of service requests that we receive at Akfit, you should expect to hear back from our service team within 2 to 7 business days. However, due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and staff members working from remote locations, response time may vary. Our authorized service technicians will address each service call individually and will determine the most cost effective service for each customer. All services are quoted prior to proceeding with any service request. Next, our insured and trained service technicians will arrive at your home or commercial facility to provide service or maintenance. Only in rare and select circumstances will we receive your equipment in our warehouse for service and this is done by appointment only through our service team. This is because our service team will need additional time to free up the space in our warehouse for your equipment. Finally, our service team will perform a two-step process when providing service to your fitness equipment:Diagnosis of the problemServicing the problem: An action such as repairing a part, lubrication, etcIn doing so, Akfit’s service team will look at the warranty of your product and will follow the manufacturer's warranty for proper procedures. If nothing is under warranty, we will advise the customer beforehand. Cost of Akfit ServicingMost service requests will cost anywhere from $99 to $129. Only in extremely rare circumstances will our service team charge you more for your request. If at any point your product is damaged and does not fall under the manufacturer's warranty, Akfit’s service rate will typically cost $95 an hour. The cost of each work order is determined by the complexity of the service required, the time that is required to fix the problem, and time required for our service team to travel to your location. However, if you have multiple service requests performed at the same location and at the same time, the combined price of all work orders can be reduced as our service professionals will already be at your location for your second service request.
